Delete your account
Effective date: 2026-10-11
You can delete your TubeTaster account and the data linked to it at any time. This page explains the two ways to do it, what is removed, what we are obliged to keep, and how long the process takes.
1. In the app (immediate)
Open TubeTaster and go to Settings → Data & Privacy → Delete Account. Confirm the dialog. Your login and your account data are deleted straight away and you are signed out on every device. This cannot be undone — there is no recovery period.
2. Without the app
If you no longer have the app installed or cannot sign in, use the contact form with the subject “Account”, or e-mail [email protected]. Write from the e-mail address your account is registered to — we can only act on requests we can attribute to the account, and may ask you to confirm from that address. Requests are completed within 30 days; you will receive a confirmation once it is done.
3. What is deleted
Deletion removes everything tied to your account:
- your login and e-mail address (including Sign in with Apple / Google links)
- your profile: username, avatar choice, language and dietary preferences
- your recipe library, folders, notes and edits; recipes you created that no other user has saved or uses; and the images you uploaded (unless they are still part of a recipe another user keeps — see section 4)
- your shopping lists and meal plans
- your friendships, friend requests and household memberships (a household you were the only member of is deleted as well), and everything you shared with other users or they shared with you
- push-notification device tokens and diagnostic events linked to your account
- users you blocked and reports you filed
4. What is retained, and why
- Subscriptions: deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription — Apple and Google bill you, not TubeTaster. Cancel it in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings before or after deleting. Purchase records stay with Apple, Google and our billing processor (RevenueCat) under their own retention rules and tax law.
- Recipes other users keep: a recipe you created or shared that another user saved to their library, or uses in a folder or meal plan, stays with them — including its images — with every link to you removed. It is their copy now, not yours.
- Reports about you: if another user reported content of yours, the report is kept for moderation records with your account reference removed.
- Legal retention: records we must keep by law (for example invoicing data under German commercial and tax law) are retained for the statutory period and then deleted.
- Households: if other members remain in a household you belong to, it continues without you: the Owner role passes to another member, and the shared lists and plans stay with the household.
5. Timing
In-app deletion takes effect immediately. Copies in encrypted backups are overwritten or purged within 30 days at the latest. Requests made without the app are completed within 30 days of verifying they come from the account holder. Details of retention periods are in our Privacy Policy.
6. Just want to leave for now?
Uninstalling the app stops all collection from your device but keeps your account and data intact so you can come back. If you want your data gone, delete the account as described above.
